Fresheners and hygiene for offices

An office smells the way its busiest washroom smells. Start there, then work out to the front desk.

Zone by zone

Washrooms. Put an automatic dispenser on the wall of each washroom. The models in our office air freshener dispensers range spray on a timer you set, and the LCD model shows its settings on a small screen. In the men’s washroom, add a urinal screen to every urinal. They come in lemon, citrus mango and apple orchid, and the anti-splash design keeps the floor around the urinal drier.

At each basin, fit a soap dispenser and a towel dispenser or a sensor hand dryer. Every ladies’ cubicle needs a sanitary bin. Ours opens by hand or by foot.

Reception and meeting rooms. Visitors notice smell in the first minute. A wall-mounted dispenser behind the front desk, set to a longer interval, keeps the area pleasant without a cloud of scent hanging over the sofa. For a cabin or a boardroom, a hand spray from room fresheners kept in the admin drawer is usually enough.

Pantry. Lunch smells travel down the corridor by two o’clock. A dispenser near the pantry door helps, and a hand sanitizer dispenser at the entrance is worth adding.

What to order together

Every dispenser runs on refills, and dispensers fitted on the same day tend to run dry in the same week. Order dispenser refills with the machines, at least one spare can per dispenser, and keep spare urinal screens in the housekeeping store.

If you want the floors to feel like one office, choose one fragrance for the whole building. Citrus, lemon spark and lavender sit better in a workplace than oudh, which is lovely in a hotel lobby and heavy at a desk.
